Bhalwal Industrial Estate will get Special Economic Zone status soon

Bhalwal Industrial Estate will get a status of Special Economic Zone soon, said Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) Shairyar Salim during his visit to the Estate.
He further added that the federal government is also extending similar status to another two estates situated at Rahim Yar Khan and Vehari districts.
The Punjab government has provided an integrated infrastructure in these industrial estates to attract foreign direct investment and to reduce the environmental and social impact of the industrial uses.
Bhalwal is a Tehsil of Sargodha District in the centre of the Punjab province of Pakistan and lies in an agricultural area, close to the M-2 motorway, to which it is being connected by three interchanges. Salam interchange is very near to the city. Bhalwal citrus fruits (including oranges) are very famous in the country as well as all over the world.
The project director of Bhalwal Industrial Estate briefed the visiting CEO about the status of development work. He said the 429-acres Bhalwal Industrial Estate is being developed in two phases.
He assured the CEO of completing the civil work in phase-II by 30th September 2017.
The CEO expressed the hope that the project would be completed well in time.
He said the Estate has already become a big attraction for the international investors due to its strategic location on the Lahore-Islamabad motorway.
He said the management is also negotiating with the Technical and Vocational Training Authority to set up a training institute at the site for the skill enhancement of local labour. A piece of land has already been allocated on site to meet the purpose.
