Today, Dada G shared his opinion on important news that Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved development projects worth over Rs166 billion for various sectors.

A meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved development projects worth over Rs166 billion for various sectors on Wednesday. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired two back-to-back meetings of the ECC and Ecnec; however, no official statement was released about the decisions made during the ECC meeting.

However, an official on condition of anonymity said the ECC allowed allocation of gas from two fields to SNGPL and added that more than one item were on the agenda of the ECC but he was unable to share any more details. “Cabinet secretary is more appropriate person for further details,” he suggested and remained silent to a question when asked about any decision taken regarding used imported cars.

The Ecnec approved the project of scaling up of Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF-II) risk reduction in northern Pakistan at a cost of Rs 3.946 billion and project for enhancing public private partnership (PPP) in Punjab at a cost of Rs 23.478 billion.

The meeting was informed that the program will provide direct financial support towards Viability Gap Fund, Project Development Fund and capacity building, besides providing adequate financial resources to government departments for project identification, transaction execution and development of sustainable PPP projects.

The meeting approved establishment of combined effluent treatment plants (CETP) for industrial areas of Karachi including laying of interceptors sewers at an estimated cost of Rs 11.799 billion. The meeting decided that the federal government’s share would be funded through PSDP.

The Ecnec also approved Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III) at a cost of Rs 36.117 billion and emphasized upon the need for effective monitoring of the project implementation so as to ensure uninterrupted and smooth of the project.

The meeting approved extension in completion date for National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (Phase-I) NESCOM Islamabad.
